Is Plumper Better?

I bought a lip plump and gloss combo (Prep & Plump in Gleam) recently just to see what all the fuss was about. They’re from a company called Arbonne (which I talked about in another post, “Mail Order”). First you put on the plump, then comes the gloss. I’m not sure I really need a plump. I mean, my lips aren’t Angelina Jolie-esque (whose are?) but they’ve got some shape and haven’t yet shriveled up into wrinkles. I made the purchase because of some kind of mommy-peer pressure. It seems like everyone I know uses some kind of lip plump. I figured I might be the only mom in town without one in my purse.

So, I buy it, wait for it to arrive and take the plumping wand out to see what the big deal is. I love the color of the gloss — no problem there. It’s a kind of frosty pink which makes me feel tan and summery, without actually going in the sun. I put the plump on first, as instructed. Ok, not too bad. Glides on like water. Not sure anything is happening. Ok, put on the color. Love it. Wait, my entire mouth feels like it is on fire. It almost looks like someone has wopped me in the face. Everything is extra pink. The outline of my lips are red. I can’t get it to stop. Had to leave the house so no time to reapply.

After about an hour, the tingly sensation went away. I’m not sure my lips actually looked any different. They felt different, but were they actually fuller than before? Because I love the gloss alone, I’ve decided to stick with it. Not sure I’ll be using the plumper again.

My boyfriend bought me a gift set which included a lip pumper gloss thing. It was just a gloss which was supposed to pump them up, it wasn’t from a big brand, but I found the exact same thing. My lips were tingling and burning, when I tried to wipe it off it didn’t stop the tingling. I don’t really need it either but like you the pressure was on for luscious lips. I haven’t picked it up since lol. I think we should stay well clear of lip burning “pumpers”.
